Faculty of Engineering
and Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa
are partnering with
All Saints Catholic High School and
École Polyvalente Le Carrefour to host two
information sessions designed to encourage high
school students
to participate in the Engineering Summer School and to
develop a learning relationship between the University
and high school education.
The first information
session was conducted on May 15, 2007 at
École Polyvalente Le Carrefour in cooperation with
Nathalie Pilon, Career Counselor and Martin David,
Science Teacher.
On June 1, 1007,
the second information session will
be conducted at
All Saints Catholic High School.
in
cooperation with
Liana Krauthaker, Coordinator of Cooperative Education.
The organizers are
targeting Grade 11 and Grade 12 because those students
are making critical decisions about their future
studies—and knowledge is necessary for any future
post-secondary science and engineering programs.
During the session,
teachers are invited to participate. This
will help teachers assist their students in making
informed decisions about their future.
In the coming months,
students from the two partner schools as well as other
schools in Ottawa region will have the chance to attend
a 5-day learning session at the Faculty of Engineering
and work in the RobotLab,
electronics lab, and manufacturing lab.
